【布偶大追緝】的故事則是關於一場珠寶大竊案，本故事中主角 Kermit 和夥伴 Fozzie 是報社的記者，被報社派去英國倫敦採訪一位知名的時尚設計師 Lady Holiday ，Kermit 還愛上了設計師的助理秘書 Miss Piggy，不料這時卻發生竊案，設計師的名貴珠寶不翼而飛，而且 Miss Piggy 被陷害成為嫌犯，為了要洗刷 Miss Piggy 的冤屈，Kermit 和他的布偶夥伴們於是展開一場追緝珠寶竊賊的大冒險。 【布偶大追緝】（The Great Muppet Caper）是 Jim Henson 《布偶系列》跨入大銀幕的第二部電影，於１９８１年推出，當年是由環球電影所發行的，迪斯尼於２００４年２月買下了 Jim Henson 《布偶系列》的所有作品版權之後，本片如今也已經成為迪斯尼旗下的作品了。 本片是由 Jim Henson 親自擔任執導，他同時也在片中擔任包括主角 Kermit 等眾多角色，其它布偶配音的也都是原來電視節目【大青蛙布偶秀】的原配音者，包括 Frank Oz 、Richard Hunt 、Jerry Nelson 、Dave Goelz 、Richard Hunt …等等，至於真人的演員部份，則包括 Diana Rigg 、Charles Grodin …等等，還有許多客串演員，包括 John Cleese 、Robert Morley 、Peter Ustinov 、Jack Warden 等。本片的配樂是由 Joe Raposo 負責，他同時也一人包辦片中所有歌曲的作詞與作曲，歌曲“The First Time It Happens”還獲得該年奧斯卡金像獎的題名。本片的原聲帶在美國曾經有發行，但如今已經絕版多年了。
