改編自BOOM!Studio於2014年推出的同名漫畫小說，由美國漫畫屆最高榮譽艾斯納獎（Eisner Award）得主Cullen Bunn創作。講述人類社會被一種名為“軀殼”的疾病困擾，患上這種病的人會性格易怒、出現幻覺與自殺傾向，變得有如靈魂被掏空的空人軀殼。疾病 爆發後，依然找不到解藥，同時美國邪教組織興起。FBI與CDC投入調查，希望能找尋一切真相。

本尼迪克特·康伯巴奇將出演冷戰時期的英國“間諜”GrevilleWynne，他將主演FilmNation投資的新片《鐵皮木》(Ironbark)，據悉風格會類似康伯巴奇也出演了的《鍋匠，裁縫，士兵，間諜》，改編自Wynne的真實故事：他是一名英國商人，在冷戰時期幫助CIA滲透了蘇聯的核武器項目，他和他的蘇聯消息源OlegPenkovsky提供了終結古巴導彈危機的關鍵情報。該片將由DominicCooke(《在切瑟爾海灘上》)執導，他與康伯巴奇已合作過BBC劇集《空王冠》，初版劇本編劇是TomO’Connor(《王牌保鏢》)。

本片是根據實際發生的「少年殺害了祖父母事件」的構思而改編成電影的嶄新故事。長澤扮演懶散奔放的母親·秋子，挑戰墮入了社會黑暗面的女人，而阿部サダヲ則飾演與秋子沒有結婚登記而同居的丈夫·遼，影片將重點刻畫秋子和她年幼的兒子·周平（郡司翔）之間所展開的關係。

Six people bound together by a traumatic experience decide to round off a year of group therapy in style. They join each other once more, traveling up to the Scottish Lowlands for a reunion weekend in a 1970s holiday let. Soon a number of mysterious and horrifying events start to expose the cracks in their relationships, and one by one they discover that trust runs but skin-deep.
